On Stage

James has performed at many different event through the years.  His on stage cooking demo’s are more than just a bunch of ingredients being mixed together.  He likes to involve audience members in all his stage performances.  These demo’s are fun, educational and James adds a dose of comedy to set his audience and on stage volunteers at ease.

James Lamprey's performance

LA Cookie Con 2019

In 2019 James performed 2 main stage demo’s at LA Cookie Con & Sweets show.  He was asked to come up with two different stage demo’s, one on Saturday prior to Adriano Zumbo’s demo and on Sunday prior to Rosanna Pansino’s Q&A session.

James came up with a fun interacted performance where he involved the audience.  He selected 3 audience members to compete against one another in a SpongeBob marshmallow decorating competition.

Everlasting Gobstopper

LA Cookie Con 2018

In 2018 James was invited to LA Cookie Con to perform a demo of his popular “Everlasting Gobstopper” recipe where he re-created the candy from the iconic movie “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”.  Of course these Everlasting Gobstoppers won’t last forever.  The crowd was amazed as he explained just how easy it was to make these at home.

James also made a special giant Everlasting Gobstopper where he gave it away to one lucky fan.  He also made about 50 regular sized ones to pass out to audience members who were well versed on food trivia.

Judge Panel at LA Cookie Con

LA Cookie Con 2018

In 2018 James was one of 3 celebrity chefs selected along with Ron Ben-Israel and Chef Jamika to judge the cake decorating competition at LA Cookie Con.  There were many entries in different categories.  It was obvious that there were so many talented bakers who attended the show.

“Trying to pick the best cake for a specific category is tough when all you want to do is cut a big piece of each cake and dig in”

The judging was done by all 3 judges reviewing each cake and discussing the unique qualities of each as attendees looked on.  Unfortunately for the judges, they didn’t get to taste each cake.  It was strictly judged by appearance.

Big Chocolate Show

The Big Chocolate Show 2017

In 2017 James hosted a decorating class at the Big Chocolate show in New York.  So many families were happy to learn hands-on how to decorate fun desserts.  This included giant marshmallows covered in chocolate and decorated to look like fun cartoon characters.  If you think this was fun for kids you would be right but trust me, the parents had just as much fun.
